How member identity review will work

Planned: ID review for discovery and contact profiles. From the current Veriff check the images never reach us; we keep the result, reference and receipt.

Verification language should describe the actual check, not imply a guarantee. Email confirmation proves control of an inbox; provider-backed identity review evaluates identity evidence. Neither establishes consent, character, or future conduct.

Profiles available for discovery or contact will complete a government-ID and face check through Veriff, a third-party identity provider. From the current Veriff check the images never reach JoinTheSwing; we keep the verification result, the provider session reference and your consent receipt. It is more substantive than a basic age checkbox, but it cannot guarantee conduct.

Where verification data is handled

The verification provider will handle the submitted ID and selfie under its privacy and retention terms. When the flow opens, JoinTheSwing will keep the verification result, the provider session reference, the consent receipt and the non-biometric review metadata needed for safety and audit purposes; from the current Veriff check the source ID and selfie images never reach JoinTheSwing application storage.

Keeping source documents out of JoinTheSwing application storage reduces what that storage can expose. It does not eliminate risk: the provider has its own systems and terms, and the planned design still has to protect verification receipts, account data, and security metadata.

The legal/privacy page describes the current controller, processor, retention, consent, and deletion boundaries. Treat that policy and the provider notice as the authoritative sources rather than assuming that any system is immune from breach or lawful process.

What verification catches

The provider evaluates document, age, face-match, and liveness signals and returns a decision. Automated review can reduce some forms of misrepresentation, but no identity system catches every forged, borrowed, compromised, or duplicate account.

The check does not verify preferences, relationship status, consent, personal history, or character. Vouches and activity can add subjective context, but they also cannot guarantee behavior and should never replace direct screening or safety planning.

What happens while a result is pending

Starting the provider flow does not make a profile verified. The account remains subject to the product's access gates while the provider evaluates the submission and returns a result. A request for another submission or an unsuccessful result should be handled through the instructions shown in the verification flow, not interpreted as proof of wrongdoing.

The status belongs to a particular account and review. It should not be copied into a broader claim about another person, a couple's second account holder, a venue, or an event guest list. Each person and surface needs the evidence required for that exact claim.

Why reviewed access is the design target

JoinTheSwing's policy is to keep profiles out of discovery and contact surfaces until the required review is complete. Public editorial pages and the email launch list are not member verification and should not be described as such.

A completed status means the provider-backed process returned the required result for that account at that time. It is useful context, not a promise that the account holder will be honest, compatible, respectful, or safe.

What another member can see

Member-facing verification indicators are designed to communicate status, not disclose identity evidence. Other members do not need a copy of an ID, a selfie, a biometric template, or the provider's internal reference to decide whether an account has reached the required access state.

A status indicator also should not be read as publishing someone's legal name, home address, citizenship, relationship status, or background history. Those are different facts. Share personal details gradually, use any privacy controls offered, and confirm anything material directly before meeting or making travel plans.

The difference between verified and age-gated

An age checkbox records a user's assertion. Provider-backed identity review evaluates additional document and biometric signals, so the two controls should not be described as equivalent.

Veriff will run the automated document, face-match, and liveness process under its own notice and terms. From the current Veriff check the source ID and face images never reach JoinTheSwing; we keep the result, the provider session reference and your consent receipt.

This adds evidence at the account-access layer, but the result is not infallible and does not extend to another person's intent or behavior. Members still need ordinary consent, privacy, and safety practices.

Free launch list while we open in 2026

Before launch, the free list requires an email address, membership type, city, and legal acceptance. Some forms can also submit optional location, product-interest, or discovery answers. Joining the list does not create an account, start a subscription, or charge a card. JoinTheSwing is opening soon in 2026; registration opens once our safety and compliance checks are complete, and current planned verification and membership pricing is published on the membership page.

Every check runs through a third-party identity provider, which charges per verification — an ongoing cost included in the planned service.

A verification result may persist with an account, but JoinTheSwing or its provider may require a new review when policy, risk, or evidence changes. Access rules will be published in the product and legal notices at launch.

Verification is one layer of safer participation

Identity review is most useful when it sits beside direct consent, request-based contact, blocking and reporting tools, careful first meetings, and independent checks of venue or organizer policies. None of those controls can substitute for the others, and no combination reduces personal judgment to zero.

Before submitting, read JoinTheSwing's privacy notice and the provider notice shown in the flow. They explain which organization handles the source material, what JoinTheSwing would receive, and how rights or deletion requests are handled. If those terms are not acceptable, do not submit the check; reviewed-member access will remain unavailable.

That narrower promise is the accurate one: provider-backed evidence can make anonymous account creation harder and support access decisions, while consent and conduct still have to be established in every interaction.
