Accessibility Statement
JoinTheSwing is a community people reach in private moments, often on a phone, sometimes with assistive technology. This page states the accessibility standard we build to, what we have verified so far, where our coverage stops, and how to tell us about a barrier.
Effective: September 27, 2026
1. The standard we build to
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2), Level AA. We treat that target as a commitment that holds as the product changes, not as a level we have finished reaching.
We do not claim full conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA today. We have not published an independent conformance audit, and nothing on this site should be read as a certification or as a formal accessibility conformance report. Where we find a barrier we cannot fix immediately, it is listed below rather than left unstated.
2. What is in place today
- Structure: each page carries one main landmark and one top-level heading, and a "skip to main content" link is the first control a keyboard user reaches.
- Keyboard operation: interactive controls are reachable and operable from the keyboard, and focus is drawn with a visible indicator.
- Motion: when your operating system asks for reduced motion, the site honours it.
- Text size: pages are checked at 390px width with text scaled to 200%, so enlarging text does not push content out of reach.
- Touch targets: the controls in our age gate and consent chrome are sized for touch; inline links inside a sentence keep the WCAG 2.5.8 inline exception while gaining extra tap padding.
3. What we have verified
On 2026-09-23 we swept the public website as an anonymous visitor — 400 pages in two passes, at 1440×900 and at 390×844 with text at 200%. It found no missing or duplicated headings, no dead ends, no horizontal overflow, and no server errors. It did find one systemic problem: tap targets in the age gate and consent chrome fell short of the 44×44 pixel target, including an age-gate button that measured 40px tall.
That problem was fixed the same day (2026-09-23), and it is now pinned by an automated browser test so it cannot come back quietly. The same sweep flagged a set of overlapping-control warnings confined to our legal pages. Each was re-checked against the live page: they came from how fixed-position elements are captured in a full-page screenshot, not from a control covering another. The skip link behind most of them is clipped out of view until it receives focus, and a browser test now pins that.
4. Known limitations
These are the limits we can state today because we have checked them, not a complete list of everything that may affect you. If you hit something that is not here, that is exactly the kind of report we want.
- The sweep above covers the public website only. The signed-in website and the iOS and Android apps have not had an equivalent sweep, so this statement should not be read as describing their conformance. A signed-in accessibility review is outstanding work.
- Our automated accessibility coverage is partial. Our automated checks concentrate on structure, keyboard focus, touch-target size, and text resizing, while rule-based checking (axe) currently runs on a small subset of our components. Most surfaces depend on manual review and browser tests rather than a full rule set on every page.
- Automated colour-contrast checking is not site-wide. Contrast is checked for specific controls and themes rather than across every surface.
- We have not tested with a panel of assistive-technology users. Our checks use browser automation and manual review; they are not a substitute for testing with people who use screen readers, magnification, or switch access every day.
5. Tell us about a barrier
Email [email protected] and describe what you were trying to do, the page or screen it happened on, and the device, browser, and assistive technology you were using. You do not need an account to write to us, and you do not need to know which guideline applies.
You can also file through our complaints and content removal process, which gives you a reference number and enters the tracked compliance queue. If you need this statement, or any part of the service, in another format, say so in the same message and we will work with you on it.
6. How this statement changes
We update this page when we verify a new barrier or close one, and the effective date at the top moves with it. If you are reading this to decide whether to trust us with your membership, treat the limitations above as the honest boundary of what we have checked.
