Do I have to reply to every introduction I receive?
No. Introductions on JoinTheSwing are consent-gated — messaging only opens after you accept, and declining an introduction needs no explanation. An unanswered or declined introduction has no consequence for your account.
Every introduction starts as a request, not an open conversation. Nobody can message you directly until you've accepted — which means your inbox only ever contains people you've actively chosen to hear from.
Declining is a normal, expected outcome, not an exception. You don't owe the other person a reason, an explanation, or even a response if you'd rather let a request sit unanswered. There's no reputational penalty on your account for declining or ignoring introductions.
This applies whether the introduction comes from a couple, a single man, or another single woman — the same accept-first gate applies to every member type, and it exists specifically so you control the pace and volume of who can reach you.
If you do want to respond but need more information first, it's entirely reasonable to ask a clarifying question before deciding whether to accept. You're not choosing between silence and full acceptance — a conversation can start slow.
