What's the difference between a unicorn and a throuple?

Unicorn describes a role, not a relationship: a single, typically bisexual woman who connects with an existing couple, often for a single event or an ongoing but non-exclusive arrangement. The term reflects rarity — couples seeking this dynamic outnumber single women interested in it — and some women embrace the label as shorthand for what they're open to; others find it reductive and skip it entirely.
