What is the difference between JoinTheSwing and SDC?
JoinTheSwing is a mobile-first PWA with provider-backed ID verification for both partners, launching September 1, 2026. SDC, the largest legacy directory, uses email-only registration with no identity check. The differences: verified identity for every member, consent-first messaging, profiles kept out of search engines, and RSVP-gated events with host-reviewed guest lists.
SDC (SwingersDateClub) is the largest legacy lifestyle directory. It was built in the early 2000s on a directory model: members create profiles, search other profiles, and communicate. Email registration is all that is required to join, which means there is no identity confirmation and fake profiles are common.
JoinTheSwing was built as a mobile-first PWA. When registration opens September 1, both partners represented on a couple profile will complete provider-backed ID and selfie review before member-facing features unlock.
On privacy: SDC has historically indexed public-facing member content in ways that search engines can find. JoinTheSwing keeps member profiles behind the sign-in wall and out of search engines — they are not publicly indexed, cached, or findable by people who are not signed in.
On events: SDC lists events as pages on their public site. JoinTheSwing handles events with RSVP approval, consent-first guest management, and venue addresses that only release after host approval. The events layer is operational rather than just informational.
