Verification & Trust · Reviewed July 2026
How does ID verification work on lifestyle sites?
Most lifestyle sites require only an email address, which structurally allows fake profiles. JoinTheSwing requires every member to pass an automated government-ID and biometric face-match and liveness check through Veriff, a third-party provider. We store only the pass/fail result and a consent receipt — never the ID or selfie images.
The standard for identity verification in the lifestyle community has historically been very low. An email address confirms nothing about who is actually behind a profile. This creates an environment where single men pose as couples, catfish profiles persist for years, and there is no accountability when someone behaves badly.
The member submits a government-issued ID and a selfie through the verification provider so the identity document, age, and face match can be reviewed.
The provider handles source data under its privacy and retention terms. JoinTheSwing stores the verification result, receipt, provider reference, and review metadata needed for safety and audit purposes, not copies of source ID or selfie images in application storage.
For event hosts and other members, the verified badge signals that a real government identity sits behind the profile. Hosts can build verified-only guest lists. Other members can filter their discovery to verified members only. The trust infrastructure is architectural — it is built into every feature rather than bolted on.
If you want to understand the full verification process before you start, the Member Trust and Verification guide walks through each step, explains what happens after verification, and describes what unlocks once you have a verified badge.
