What does Verification Tier mean?
Verification tiers are graduated trust levels on JoinTheSwing — from basic email verification to full team-reviewed ID + selfie checks — that unlock progressively more platform surfaces and event access.
Not all verification is equal. JoinTheSwing uses a tiered model that scales trust with progressively more robust confirmation methods. Email verification (Tier 1) establishes a real communication channel. Photo verification (Tier 2) confirms that a real face matches the profile. Full ID + selfie verification (Tier 3) has our team confirm the ID and selfie match and then delete the photos — only the 'Verified' badge is stored.
Each tier unlocks additional platform surfaces. Tier 1 can browse public content. Tier 2 can send Letter requests. Tier 3 unlocks member-to-member connections, event RSVPs that hosts have reserved for fully verified attendees, and Circle access. This graduated approach balances accessibility with security: it's easy to get started, but full access requires a meaningful commitment to identity transparency.
For event hosts, verification tiers are practical tools. A host can set an RSVP requirement of Tier 3 for an intimate house party and Tier 2 for a larger club night, calibrating the trust standard to the intimacy level of the event.
