What does Clothing-Optional mean?
Clothing-optional means nudity is permitted, not that sexual activity is. Florida's clothing-optional resorts and beaches are nudist spaces with strict rules against public sexual behavior.
This is the single most common misunderstanding newcomers bring to Florida. Clothing-optional describes dress, not conduct. Nudist resorts and clothing-optional beaches welcome social nudity and enforce rules against public sexual behavior — often more strictly than a textile venue would, because their licences and community standards depend on it.
Florida has well-known clothing-optional resorts north of Tampa and a clothing-optional beach in Miami-Dade. Lifestyle couples visit and enjoy them, but they are not play venues and do not host lifestyle takeovers. Couples who arrive expecting otherwise are the ones asked to leave.
If your goal is a social, low-pressure way to get comfortable being undressed around other adults, these spaces are genuinely good for that. If your goal is a play weekend, look at on-premises venues instead.
