A dungeon monitor (DM) is a trained or appointed volunteer who supports the safe, respectful operation of a play space at an adult event. Rather than participating as a guest, the DM watches the room, answers basic questions, reminds attendees of posted rules, and helps protect privacy. They may check that equipment appears usable, confirm that an activity has clear consent, and direct concerns to event organizers.

DMs are usually not therapists, security professionals, or substitute communicators. If you feel unsure, ask what support they can provide and where organizers can be reached. Follow their instructions, use agreed signals such as safe words, and speak up before a boundary is crossed.
