What does Playroom mean?
A playroom is the designated area of an on-premises venue where intimacy is permitted. Access is usually gated, and entering one is not consent to anything that happens inside it.
Playrooms range from open group spaces to private rooms with doors, and most on-premises venues offer several formats. Access is typically restricted to verified or paid entrants, and staff monitor the areas.
The etiquette is consistent across well-run venues: watching is allowed only where it is welcome, asking beats assuming, and a closed door or a drawn curtain means do not enter. Standing in a doorway to observe is generally considered rude unless the room is explicitly an open one.
Most importantly, being in a playroom is not consent. Anyone can decline anything at any point and leave, and hosts will back that up. Venues that do not enforce this are the ones to avoid.
