The standard every couple agrees to before contacting a single woman.

On JoinTheSwing, unicorn-hunting behavior — entitled pursuit of a single woman, pressure after a no, bait-and-switch — is not a preference we discourage. It's a violation couples agree not to commit: introductions are consent-gated, both partners verify individually, and every member can report pressure and harassment straight to moderation.

First, the label

"Unicorn" is a label you choose — never one applied to you.

Some single women use "unicorn" as shorthand for what they're open to; others find it reductive and skip it entirely. Both reactions are valid, and the choice belongs to the woman — not to the couple messaging her. A couple that opens with "we're looking for our unicorn" has already made clear they see a role to be filled rather than a person to be met.

Nothing about a single woman's presence here is an invitation by default. Verifying and browsing commits you to nothing, and being open to couples is not the same as being available to whichever couple asks.

What the words mean

What unicorn-hunting behavior is — and why it's not allowed here.

"Unicorn hunting" describes a couple pursuing a single woman as an accessory to their relationship — expected to be available on their timeline, to suppress her own preferences, and to play a scripted role in their fantasy. It's a recognized etiquette failure across the lifestyle community, not a niche complaint. Wanting to connect with a single woman is not the problem — the entitlement is. The patterns this standard prohibits:

Treating her as an accessory.

Messaging that reads like a booking request — the couple's fantasy, timeline, and rules stated as fact, with her preferences treated as details to fill in later.

Entitled persistence.

Treating a decline, a slow reply, or silence as the opening position of a negotiation — following up with pressure instead of accepting the answer.

Bait-and-switch.

One partner does all the talking while the other barely exists in the conversation — or the person who shows up isn't the person, or the dynamic, that was represented.

Rules that bind only her.

Detailed expectations for what she may feel, want, or do, while the couple's own agreements are treated as fixed and never up for discussion.

This isn't a soft preference. Boundary pressure, harassment, and misrepresenting who you are to secure a meeting are reportable violations handled through moderation review, and the most serious conduct — coercion, non-consent, illegal activity — falls under the zero-tolerance policy in our terms. A platform for women exploring on their own terms can't host the pattern that treats them as inventory.

The standard itself

Six commitments every couple makes on contact.

The first is architecture — it's how the platform works, not a promise. The rest is the behavior that separates couples worth meeting from the ones this page exists for.

01

An introduction is a request, not an opener.

Nobody can message a single woman directly. Contact starts as a request she previews first, and a conversation only opens if she accepts it.

02

Both partners, real and present.

Every couple profile requires both partners to pass their own ID and face check — and the standard asks more than the checkbox: both partners speak for themselves, in their own words, before anything is agreed.

03

No is a complete answer.

A declined or unanswered introduction carries no penalty and requires no explanation. Pushing past a no — for a meeting, a photo, or "just this once" — is boundary pressure, and it's reportable.

04

Her limits aren't a starting bid.

Boundaries a single woman states are respected as stated. Treating them as the first number in a negotiation is exactly the behavior this standard exists to shut down.

05

Honest representation.

Who is in the couple, what each of them wants, and what their own rules are — stated truthfully up front. Misrepresenting any of it to secure a meeting is a reportable violation.

06

The label is hers to choose.

"Unicorn" is a word some single women use for themselves and others don't. Couples don't apply it to a woman. If she hasn't claimed it, it isn't yours to use.

Enforcement, stated honestly

What actually happens when a couple crosses the line.

You can end contact yourself, instantly.

Declining or ignoring an introduction needs no explanation and carries no penalty — and blocking a member stops all contact immediately, without waiting on anyone.

Reports reach moderation, categorized.

From a profile or a conversation, you report a specific reason, set an urgency, and say where it happened. Reports are saved and reviewed by the moderation team — not auto-closed, and not ignored.

The serious cases have published deadlines.

Non-consensual intimate imagery is removed within 48 hours and illegal content immediately, with investigation of other complaints within five business days — see the complaints process.

The report reasons map directly to the behavior this page describes: boundary pressure, off-platform pressure, photo or media pressure, event incident, fake or duplicate profile, harassment, another safety concern. We won't claim verification or moderation can prevent every bad actor — verification confirms who people are, not how they behave. What we can promise is that you never have to wait on a review to protect yourself, and that what you report is read.

If you're a couple reading this

None of this makes you unwelcome. It's how you stay welcome.

Couples connecting respectfully with single women are a valued part of this community — and the couples who do best here are the ones who arrive without an agenda for a specific stranger. Write an introduction worth accepting: say who you both are, what you're each looking for, and what you're not. Let both partners carry the conversation. Take a no — or a silence — the first time. That's the whole standard.

Common questions

About the standard, answered plainly.

Is a couple looking for a single woman automatically unicorn hunting?

No. Wanting to connect with a single woman is a normal, welcome part of the lifestyle — plenty of single women are looking for exactly that. Unicorn hunting is the behavior, not the desire: entitled pursuit, pressure after a no, bait-and-switch, or treating a woman as an interchangeable part of the couple's fantasy. A couple that introduces itself honestly, lets both partners speak for themselves, and takes no for an answer is not unicorn hunting.

What happens when I report a couple?

Your report is saved and routed to the moderation team for review, with the reason, urgency, and where it happened attached. You can block the couple in the same action so contact stops immediately regardless of how long review takes. We won't pretend to a timeline we can't guarantee for conduct reviews — what we can state is that reports are reviewed by people, not discarded, and that the most serious categories (non-consensual imagery, illegal content) carry published removal deadlines in our complaints process.

Does verification prevent this behavior?

Partly, and it's important to be precise. Both-partner verification prevents the most common deceptive pattern — one person posing as a couple — because a couple profile isn't approved until each partner individually passes an ID and face check. It cannot read intent, so it doesn't stop a genuinely verified couple from behaving badly. That's what the standard, reporting, and blocking are for.

Do I have to explain a decline?

No — never. Declining or simply leaving an introduction unanswered needs no explanation and has no consequence for your account. A couple that demands a reason is demonstrating exactly the entitlement this page describes.
