How does the JoinTheSwing verification process work, step by step?

The verification process is designed to be quick, automated, and hands-off for JoinTheSwing. When you begin verification, you are handed off to Veriff — an accredited identity verification provider used by financial services, sharing economy platforms, and regulated industries. Veriff's interface guides you through photographing your government ID and taking a live selfie.

Veriff's automated system performs three checks. Document authenticity: is the ID genuine, unexpired, and not tampered with? Face match: does the live selfie match the photo on the ID? Liveness: is a real, living person present in front of the camera, not a photo, video, or mask? The entire process typically takes under a minute from start to finish.

JoinTheSwing receives only the result — pass or fail — plus a consent receipt for record-keeping. We never receive, store, or have access to the ID image or the selfie. This zero-retention handoff is a deliberate architectural choice: we can confirm every member is a real, verified adult without ever holding the sensitive documents that would make us a target for data breaches.

For couple accounts, both partners each complete their own verification check. The couple profile is not approved and member-facing features do not unlock until both individuals have passed. This eliminates the common problem of one partner creating a 'couple' profile without the other's knowledge or consent.

After verification, you receive a verified badge visible to other members and hosts. The badge is the trust signal that unlocks verified-only event guest lists, filtered discovery, and the full platform experience. The underlying verification is not repeated unless there is a specific reason to re-verify; the badge persists.
