What is People on JoinTheSwing?
People — originally called The Society — is planned as the main member-discovery surface, available to verified members after launch: a feed for browsing nearby, recently verified and traveling members. All discovery is designed to stay behind verified access; no member information will be visible publicly.
JoinTheSwing has not opened registration, so there is no People feed to browse yet. As planned, it would be a contextual feed rather than a static search directory, surfacing members near your location, recently verified members, members traveling to cities you are interested in, and members connected to people you already know.
Each planned signal would be relative to your own social context. A 'recently verified' signal is planned to surface newly verified members, and a 'traveling' signal is planned to show verified members visiting your city or going somewhere you plan to visit.
A 'saved by people you trust' signal is planned as a social-graph layer. It would be context, not proof: a saved profile is not evidence about anyone's conduct, and it does not replace your own screening.
None of the planned People feed's content would be visible to anyone who is not signed in. Member profiles, photos, travel signals, and social history are designed to sit behind the sign-in wall and stay out of search engines. People is explicitly not meant to be an indexable public directory.
Discovery in People is designed to be consent-first at every step. Viewing or saving a profile is not planned to notify the member; the first notification they would receive is a private introduction request, and they would keep full control over whether to accept it.
