What does Drawing Room mean?
A Drawing Room is the original name for a Thread on JoinTheSwing — a moderated discussion planned for reviewed members, covering venue reviews, relationship dynamics, and etiquette questions.
Drawing Rooms was the original name for Threads on JoinTheSwing. The name borrowed from the 18th-century salon tradition — a drawing room was where polite society gathered for substantive conversation — and the surface is planned to be called Threads. Threads are designed to be more open than Groups — visible to the reviewed membership rather than private — but moderated and topic-focused.
Each Thread is planned to have a title, an author, and a series of replies. Topics are expected to range from the practical (venue reviews, event schedules, travel tips) to the philosophical (jealousy management, the etiquette of the soft no, navigating NRE in the Lifestyle). Threads will be able to be open, locked after a period, or archived when a topic has run its course.
Threads and Groups are planned to serve different functions. Groups are private, persistent member spaces. Threads are designed as the more open, searchable layer for the reviewed membership — but this describes a planned surface, and no archive of member discussions exists yet.
