What does Drawing Room mean?

A Drawing Room on JoinTheSwing is a moderated community discussion thread — visible to all verified members — where the community talks, debates venue reviews, relationship dynamics, and etiquette questions.

The name borrows from the 18th-century salon tradition: a drawing room was where polite society gathered for substantive conversation. JoinTheSwing extends the metaphor to verified community discussion. Drawing Rooms are not private (unlike Circles) — they're visible to all verified members — but they are moderated, topic-focused, and archival.

Each Drawing Room has a title, an author, and a thread of replies. Topics range from the practical (venue reviews, event schedules, travel tips) to the philosophical (jealousy management, the etiquette of the soft no, navigating NRE in the Lifestyle). Rooms can be open, locked after a period, or archived when the topic has run its course.

Drawing Rooms serve a different function from Circles. Circles are private, persistent communities. Drawing Rooms are the community's collective intelligence: searchable, archival, and open to the full verified membership. A new member browsing old Drawing Room threads is reading the accumulated experience of everyone who came before them.
