What does Circle mean?

A Circle on JoinTheSwing is a private, invitation-only group — the platform's equivalent of a hosted room, organized by geography, interest, tier, or host affiliation, visible only to approved or invited members.

Circles are the community's answer to a problem public forums create: when spaces are large and open, self-disclosure becomes risky and trust is diluted. Circles solve this by making every group small, gated, and host-controlled.

Each Circle has a host who sets membership criteria (open to any verified member, or curated by invitation), controls governance, and can require a minimum vouch count or verification tier for entry. Inside a Circle, members share threads, plan gatherings, and build the kind of trusted micro-community that public timelines cannot support.

Circles can be geographic (Miami Circle — for verified members planning the Miami season), interest-based (Wine + Conversation), tier-based (Inner Circle — reserved for highly vouched members), or host-affiliated (Down2Party's private planning room). They are the digital expression of the community's preference for smaller, trusted rooms.
