A Letter is the original name for a Message on JoinTheSwing — a consent-gated private introduction. The planned flow starts with a Message request; the recipient accepts or declines before any conversation opens — the architectural opposite of unsolicited DMs.
Letters was the original name for Messages. The design starts with a Message request: the sender submits it, and the recipient can accept, decline, or leave it unanswered before conversation content opens.
That checkpoint is designed to block unsolicited message content, but it cannot prove a sender's intent or eliminate request-volume fatigue. A recipient will still be able to block or report an account, and acceptance can be withdrawn by ending the conversation.
Available message formats and retention will depend on the product and published policies at launch. A support record can help investigate a report, but it does not guarantee prevention, recovery, or a particular outcome.
