What does Takeover mean?
A takeover is an event where a Lifestyle club or promoter rents out an entire venue — hotel, resort, or club — for an exclusive community weekend or evening, creating a fully controlled Lifestyle environment.
Takeovers represent the large-format end of the Lifestyle event spectrum. Rather than renting one room in a public venue, the host secures the entire property — a hotel floor, a small resort, or a club building — for a defined period. This gives the host (and the community) control over every space, eliminates the presence of vanilla guests who didn't sign up for a Lifestyle event, and creates the feeling of a fully self-contained world.
Resort takeovers are particularly popular in Florida, the Caribbean, and Mexico, where properties with private pools and outdoor spaces allow for clothing-optional environments that club nights can't replicate. They often run Friday through Sunday and include meals, activities, and organized mixers alongside the play-space access.
For promoters, takeovers are complex operations requiring hotel partnerships, RSVP management at scale, ratio control, and significant financial commitment. JoinTheSwing's event infrastructure — guest-list visibility, verification badges, QR check-in, Stripe payouts — was designed with exactly this format in mind.
